Jeff Haden does not clearly state how google makes its money all I know is it has something to do with advertising.  I mean if you are going to write article about how google makes its money you should explain it in someway that the rest of the world can understand it.  Its just not clear how this pay per click advertising works , but I mean it is clear that it does.  Also what is this guy trying to say about a online college degree, he only paid $34.87 or whatever to buy it?  We just need a broader explanation than this one.  Click on Jeff if you desire to read this article.

It seems to me that Blockbuster’s problems could come from the fact that the people who should be running the company by looking ahead to the future seem totally out of touch with reality.  While Netflix and Redbox were moving ahead in the home movie business Blockbuster just stood around with a stupid look on its face.  Even the heads of the company seem not to realize that they are broke.  In our “I want it now” society people want convenience. Simply going to the store for a movie these days just seems like too much work when you can get it on your computer, IPhone, Ipad, or the numerous other devices which stream these movies to you at your convenience.  Being in denial and comparing their company to apple is simply crazy. If Blockbuster is going to survive, they are going to need to come up with a super fabulous business plan, fast!  You have to strive to survive in the digital age.

Now onto the problem with Netflix yes its convenient and you can stream it on many various screens, I believe that they are lacking security. Because somebody can purchase it and then give their friend the code and then they can watch it.  Losing another potential client.  Think about it, and also who really needs Netflix when you can stream just about anything for free so Netflix might be done as well.

According to Steve jobs you need to “start with the customer experience and work your way back to the technology.”  He makes some good points in the speech he gave 15 years ago, I believe he has been true to his philosophy because I’ve seen these types of situations happen to apple and their products.  The achievements of apple are amazing, our lives have been forever changed by technology.  Although Jobs is dead, I believe he still has a few more surprises left for us with apple and we shall see technology grow from beyond the grave!!!!  Check out this video though so you can get some Apple philosophy.

Facebook May Not Be Enough For the Next Generation

To me it is all about the Internet and social media and yes, customer feedback is awesome for a company.  Therefore by using social media application it creates a very inexpensive medium to provide the feedback that in the past would cost the company money and more time to do so. Apparntly companies are not getting enough information on peoples thoughts and opinons on Facebook and Twitter.  They believe they should look beyond them. Also since this article states that Facebook and twitter are not enough  then I believe they should hone in on peoples blogs.  Especially those who blog about things related to ones company, because they could also use that information as customer research and they very well could be doing this already.  Facebook already has some program that analyzes your profile to create advertising that appeals to your interest and activities.  Why couldn’t the same program be applied across other people’s blogs?  Granted it would require the permission of the blogger and it could lead to a lot of clutter on peoples’ pages because Facebook rather seems that way.  Or maybe it could turn into a way that bloggers could make money, because after all I’m sure some companies pay bloggers to put add on their websites.  For more on this article check the link at the top.

Individualism VS. Collective Groups

In reference to Ayn Rand, colleagues at the Ayn Rand University and myself, certain observations related to Rand’s theory of individualism over collective groups will be examined in relation to the Clint Eastwood Movie “Gran Torino.”
Ayn Rand’s view of individualism states that everyone needs to be viewed as an individual rather than a minority. Meaning that people should think and judge independently.  Collectivism on the other hand is the theory or practice that causes “some sort of group rather than the individual the fundamental unit of political, social, and economic concern”. When acting as a minority several problems can arise such as racism between these different minorities. This is the major theme in “Gran Torino.”  Edwin A. Locke makes a very good point of this when he states, “taking away jobs from one group in order to compensate a second group to correct injustices caused by a third group who mistreated a fourth group at an earlier point in history is absurd on the face of it and does not promote justice; rather, it does the opposite.”   Racism does not cure racism and racial harmony is what needs to be focused on.
Ayn Rand believes that people need to be viewed by their own individual merits rather than their color of skin. For example, in “Gran Torino” we have four minorities that butt heads with each other in this movie but to keep things simple I am only going to focus on three.  Clint Eastwood portrays the old, white, and racist vet from the Vietnam War.  The “Hmong” or Asian minority that moves next door to Clint, and finally the Latin American Minority, which is represented as a gang. From this being said there is a lot of racial tension from the beginning.
However, Clint, the main character soon grows to accept the Asian minority on terms of their individual merits and the minorities accept each other and form this racial harmony.  This was one of the main key points that show how Rand’s theory obviously works.
Moving on, with a primary example of racism within minorities and between other minorities.   In this movie there are two gangs, you have the Asian gang and the Latin gang.  Both of these gangs tend to harass one another especially when one is by himself or herself or outnumbered causing each individual to join with their fellow minority gangs.  This creates a violent tension between the two.   One particular boy is Asian and refuses to join the gang of his specific minority, thus causing a violent tension within his own minority thus bringing danger not only to themselves but to Clint and surrounding minorities as well.
This further proves that minority distinction creates a lot of problems such as gang violence, stereotypes, and hatred.  It creates this stereotypical image that makes you automatically assume that all the people of a particular minority act in certain ways, usually focusing on the negative aspects and feeding the hatred between them.  It also creates lots of problems in the justice system with racial profiling with specific minorities.

When in reality there is to an extent certain stereotypes that tend to be true but not every individual of a specific minority is true to them.  In return, this further proves that individual merits need to be focused upon rather than just the minority as a group.
Not that minorities sticking together is always a bad thing, only when violence takes place, but minorities need to stick together to preserve their culture so it can be passed on from generation to generation.
Rand herself believed that the American society was founded upon individualism and we need to continue to focus on everyone’s individual rights.  I mean after all isn’t America about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
Once again, this movie has several key points that prove Rand’s theory.  The first being that Clint looked past his previous racist minority view of the Asians next door and accepted them individually and even became closer to them then his own family.  The second states that minorities create violent tension between different minorities and also problems within specific minorities themselves.  Collectivism creates many problems within society moving us further away from our individual rights that America was founded on to begin with.
Therefore I would have to agree with Ayn’s belief of individualism over collective minorities because more problems are derived when we focus on minority groups.  Even though some minority groups have had it worse than others in the past, if something was done about it today it would create discrimination against the other minorities because one would be favored over the others.  Besides the majority of the people alive today had nothing to do with the mistreatment of those minorities who were done wrong in the past.

The Post-Crisis Consumer

John Gerzema reflects about consumer behaviour and the effects of our poor economic state.  He talks about how the deficit has brought communities together and people are doing things more themselves.  Also corporations and people are going more green and are working together for a greater good.    Believe it or not but he proves that we have had many positive aspects come into effect because of the deficit.  Watch Johns video to find out more.

Obama: Diplomacy “prefered solution with Iran

Obama is very aware that Iran is beginning to become a threat especially to Israel.  Iran is pushing very hard to join the league of nations that possess nuclear arms.  Obama however, stated on feb. 5 that a not military intervention should remain as his “preferred solution.”  Although, he has left the military option open just incase the refuse to give up their nuclear ambitions and threats to close the Strait of Hormuz, to mess with our oil trade.

In the mean time Defense Secretary Leon Panetta stated “publicly that Israel could be poised to make a preventive strike against Iran as early as late spring or early summer.”

At least Obama is leaving the military option open because we could potentially enter another nuclear arms race like the cold war all over again.

Ayatolla: Kill All Jews, Annihilate Israel

The war drums are about to begin beating since the Iranian government has boasted a legal case for a genocidal attack against Jews world wide and assets in Israel.  Their claim for this attack is that they think Israel brings danger to the Islam faith.  However there has been fight for ages between the two but not of this magnitude.  Recently Iran’s Defense Ministry just announced this weekend that it “test-fired an advanced two-stage, solid-fuel ballistic missile and boasted about successfully putting a new satellite in orbit.”  Thus showing that their engineers have the technology for intercontinental ballistics Missiles and are pushing its nuclear weapons program.  It was predicted by western analystist that they would not have obtained this technology till 2015, however they thought wrong.

“Forghani details the Islamic duty of jihad as laid out in the Quran for the sake of Allah and states that “primary jihad,” according to some Shiite jurists, can only occur when the Hidden Imam, the Shiites’ 12th Imam Mahdi, returns. Shiites believe Mahdi’’s return will usher in Armageddon.”  Reza Kahlili

Israel is planning to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, however they need Americas approval and assistance.

This following document explains these individuals radical beliefs its long but interesting.

“The Iranian secret documentary “The Coming Is Upon Us” clearly indicates that these radicals believe the destruction of Israel will trigger the coming of the last Islamic Messiah and that even Jesus Christ, who will convert to Islam, will act as Mahdi’s deputy, praying to Allah as he stands behind the 12th Imam.” Reza Kahlili

How To Sell Cars and Influence People

Ford obviously knows how to do it right in the digital age because they have been very busy.  They have been utilizing every form of social media they can and reaching more people for a far way less amount of money than they would normally spend.  Like on more traditional forms of advertising such as tv or radio.   Ford has taken advantage of customer interaction through social media to make the company better.  They have several awesome ads on YouTube like the zombie survival add, and they have also been encouraging customers to send in their very own videos.  All in all ford is becoming a more dominant figure in the car industry thanks to social media check out the link at the top to read more.
